Synopsis

The first major movement executed by Egali-Darwinists, its aim was no less than societal revolution, with Centropolis serving as the epicenter. The action was largely coordinated by Hyena, whose Bio-Cybernetic Engine provided the means by which power equity could be provided.

In other words, using technological and biological samples from superpowered individuals, Hyena was able to grant powers to anyone who joined, who would then be allowed to run free. While the Engine was not capable of perfect replication – and therefore not true equality – it was still a substancial step toward their goals.

The result was chaos – many used their new powers for personal gain, others fought to stop them, and yet others fought to stop some of them under the premise that enforcers were no longer moral now that all could defend themselves.

Hyena took her fight to the Centropolis Stock Exchange, what she saw as a prime hub of the worst current society had to offer – people who grew fat off others' work while contributing nothing tangible. There she attempted to corrupt global economic market data as brokers fought in a makeshift arena until they were all inturrupted by a group of superheroes.

Topaz appealed to Hyena's own logic of proving her merit, challenging her to fight them alone. She obliged, and what followed was a vicious combat that cost the life of Paladin. Eventually finding herself on the back foot, Hyena opted to bring the entire building down around her. The heroes fled before being buried, and Hyena's fate remains unknown.

Consequences

  • Following the disappearance of Hyena, the revolutionaries had lost their source of equalizing powers. Without this, the group was no longer able to continue their actions and the police eventually managed to reign in the remaining conflicts. The immediate threat of revolution was over, although it's hard to kill an ideology completely…

Notes

  • Hyena's whereabouts, and survival status, remain unknown. Her body was not found in the rubble of the Stock Exchange.
