The Pun
"Have you checked your spice rack? Because it appears you're out of thyme."
— The Pun, confronting his archnemesis
Villain Name: The Pun Real Name: Unknown Secret Identity?: Yes Age: Unknown Gender: Male Occupation: Full-time Supervillain Base of Operations: The Train of Thought
Overview
One of the supervillains of all time, The Pun came to early prominence in a campaign known as the Rain of Terror, in which he stole countless housepets for his evil cloud-seeding project.
Description
In costumes, The Pun is often austere. However, he has been known to apply his power visually on occasion, such as when he mounted the 37.854-liter ammunition tank for his Lass-Transgendering Deaging Bovinification Raygun on his head.
Origin Story
The exact point at which The Pun first began commiting his atrocities has been lost to time. Some think it may even predate The Eventide, though the timeline makes that seem improbable.
Personality
A villain through-and-through, The Pun delights in inflicting his powers upon others and feels no remorse for such heinous acts.
Powers
- Linguistic Mastery
- Psychological Assault
The Pun is capable of inflicting severe psychological damage upon any who witness him. By expertly attacking his opponent's mental faculties with verbal and visual wordplay he can force opponents into groans, stun them in their tracks, and drive them to submission.
Neither strength nor intelligence provide protection from his powers, and if anything the latter only makes the subject more succeptable. However, their influence is limited to those capable of understanding language, and (with rare and powerful exception), he is usually capable of only inflicting harm upon one language at a time.
Equipment
The Pun needs no weapon or equipment beyond his own voice to commit his villainous deeds – a fact he pride himself on. However, he is not above using anything at his disposal, including fantastical inventions of his own design.
Complications
Such joy does The Pun's evil bring him that he can rarely pass up an opportunity to use his powers, regardless of circumstance. He has been known to catch even his own henchmen in his psychic carnage, and has made for many awkward funerals.
Relationships
The Pun is the archnemesis of Brutally Honest Man and his sidekick The Compliment, with his sharp wit serving as a natural mirror of the hero's blunt words.
